joe, past away sadly on boxing day suddenly,he took a brain haemorrhage
he was from mullingar county westmeath.
he was burried from christ the king in mullingar to walshtown cemetery.
he was a singer......
MAKE ME AN ISLAND WAS HIS BIGGEST HIT AND NUMBER ONE IN 14 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES,
i saw joe on a few occassions,my 1st i actually got speaking to him after his concert in the town
hall here in ballymena county antrim,
i was just going out of the main doors at the town hall,
when i was talking to frank mcaffery ( another great singer )and said to frank how much my sister
liked joe and frank kindly took me back and introduced me to joe he was such a lovely man
constantly smiling and put his all into his songs,he really loved to sing.
my late sister (kathleen anness) really loved the man,i got his autograph for her , but she sadly
never got to meet him,
joe also helped so many charity's and no one knew of this until after his death
he also invited the down and out to his home,
he was a kind man and really would of given his shirt of his back to help someone , GOD BLESS YOU

he had a few throat problems in the last few years but always carried out his concerts
he was well known at the flamingo ballroom .
he will be sadly missed in the singing industry and dance halls x
he also did charity work, concerts,such a lovely personality
just a lovely, lovely man ....
he was burried today 29th december at 12.00 mid day
he had 5 sisters and 2 brothers,
it is just so hard to believe
we will never see you again in person

SIMPLY THE BEST
My mum loved to hear this man sing. Mum grew up in Castlepollard Westmeath, not far from where joe lived. As children we also grew up listening to his music. A tragic loss to all who knew him and heard him sing.

i know we all have to die at some stage,

one night i dreamed a dream,
i was walking along the beach with my lord,
across the sky flashed scenes from my life,
for each scene,i noticed two sets
of footprints in the sand_
one belonging to me and one to my lord,
when the last scene of life shot before me,
i looked back at the footprints in the sand.
there was only one set of footprints,
i realised that this was at the lowest
and saddest times of my life,
this bothered me, si i questioned the lord
about my dilemma............... 'LORD, you told me when i decided to follow you,
you would walk and talk with me all the way,
but during the most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
i just don't understand why,when i needed you most,
you left me,'
HE WHISPERED,'My precious child,
I LOVE YOU and i will never leave you _
never , ever . during your trials and testings.
when you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that i carried you'.
